Hynes: Then and Now

The year was 1925. A half gallon of milk cost 28 cents. Calvin Coolidge became the first U.S. president to have his inauguration broadcast on the radio. And in Youngstown, OH, a small steel brokerage firm started doing business as the Hynes Steel Products Company. It was the beginning of a company destined for success.

Even back then, our founders were setting the tone for a company philosophy that values the highest level of quality and service, lasting relationships, on-time delivery and an ongoing commitment to innovation. For decades, Hynes Industries has been a leading supplier and processor of steel and non-ferrous metals for service centers, original equipment manufacturers and fabricators throughout North America.

We offer four distinct product lines: strip steel, custom roll forming steel shapes and standard roll forming steel shapes, specialty wire and flat wire, and our proprietary American made slotted angle, FlexAngle. We boast five plants totaling more than 270,000 square feet, and maintain a domestic steel inventory that exceeds 36 million pounds. Hynes is positioned to respond to the rapidly changing needs of our customers and support their just-in-time metal delivery demands.
